I used to work for Cooler Master and the Trigger had the same problem. To use normal membrane keyboard without firmware to get into BIOS. Dec 11, 2016 - My setup includes a PS4 / G502 Mouse and CM Storm Trigger. Once charged update to the latest beta firmware which has improved.
CM Storm Trigger lights up but no function USB detection
Today I unplugged my CM Storm Trigger keyboard to clean the table where it sets. When I plugged the keyboard back in the keyboard lit up, my computer shows a USB detection but my keyboard will not type, or do any functions with key press, IE change blacklit settings. I Tried the keyboard on another computer same problem.
FIXED!!Below is the order of problem-solving I done to correct my issue.
UPDATE #1: For the keyboard to work the CM Storm Trigger program has to be open on my screen. Once I minimize the program, the keyboard stops working. I have not done anything to the program before this problem.
UPDATE #2: I found out CM Storm Trigger had a firmware update two years ago. link I downloaded the Trigger Reset Tool and the Application Software V1.2 thinking maybe the trigger reset tool would correct the problem. It did not. I went ahead and uninstalled the CM Storm Trigger Application, restarted my computer, and the keyboard works. Installed application and all is working fine now.
Updating Firmware was a plus for me After updating the firmware it seems there are more lighting options on the keyboard which is cool, and the annoying disconnection of the keyboard when you slightly move the keyboard has stopped.
Anyways first time making a problem solved post like this. Found lots of Questions/issues with this keyboard, but hardly any resolutions that helped.
Good luck

Pros: Keyboard functions properly without any issues, durable construction, nice long USB cable included. Backlit keyboard with the ability to turn off.
Cons: The keys and the finish of the keyboard wears away pretty quickly. WASDE keys (keys used for gaming) are almost unrecognizable after owning for over a year. The palm strip also has lost it's matte finish where the palm of my hands normally sit while I'm typing.
Other Thoughts: Would buys this keyboard again, but I just wish the finishing wouldn't have worn off so quickly. Looks like I'll be ordering replacement keys because some of the letters on the keyboard look like red blobs when the keyboard is lit up.

Pros: The keyboard itself has been excellent over the past 9 months. Never had a problem with it.
Very comfortable to type on. Not too heavy but it feels solid.
Lights are even and bright.
Cons: The keyboard itself has been flawless save for a slight buzzing noise if plugging in a headset through the USB ports.
The handrest is a little bit prone to scratches/peeling but your mileage may vary.
Other Thoughts: I really wanted a high quality gaming/typing keyboard and settled on this model due to the $20 rebate card offered through newegg's partners. I filled out all the necessary paperwork, kept track of the rebate status online, but the rebate was never sent even though it was processed. The rebate was a major factor in my decision to buy this keyboard through newegg so that it my only disappointment with this purchase.
Pros: Great lighting adjustments, extra 2 usb ports in back can come in handy, very solid feeling, and the keys seems to work great.
Cons: Fragile connections.
Other Thoughts: I had this keyboard for about 5 months and travel with it every once in a while. Today, after traveling back home, the mini usb connection just snapped off the board inside of the keyboard housing. Bye Bye keyboard.

Pros: -Quite (not silent) keys that have a distinct feel and sound when pressed
- Nice glow on the LED, with changeable LED settings
- 5 max profiles for MACROS, that you can change instantly
- The macro program is difficult to learn at first, but allows for very specific macros and customization
- The keyboard and wrist pad are very sturdy
- very RED glow, not pink at all
- decent tech support (live is good, email is bad)
Cons: - You cant set the extra macro keys to open programs
- The macro program is difficult to get the hang of at first
Other Thoughts: Would buy again, but probably wont have to buy another key board for a very long time. If every company made products that felt this sturdy, life would be grand.
Pros: Fantastic keyboard. Every key is mechanical and the brown switches are amazing to type on. Backlight looks great and is nicely adjustable. Macro editing is easy in windows, I only use linux however. Once the macros are set in windows they work perfect in linux though.
Cons: None really. Its occasionally squeaky but its rare and doesn't bother me.
Other Thoughts: Cooler Master should really opensource the macro editing program. I know a lot of the linux community would be more enthusiastic about choosing a keyboard if there was a nice linux program.
Pros: Heavy, so it doesn't move on your desk.
Cherry MX Brown keys feel fantastic.
Macro keys are executed in the keyboard hardware - so you can do things that Windows doesn't like such as Ctrl-Alt-Del and opening the cmd window as administrator. VERY awesome feature for programmers.
Cons: It broke after a month of use when I attached it to a new computer and installed the drivers. I'm not whining about LEDs not lighting up like most complaints. The entire keyboard stopped working. And yes, it is broken on other computers as well.
Computers will recognize when it is plugged in. The plug and play driver installer even correctly says 'CMStorm Trigger Pro' when installing the driver. But the keys don't respond! It lights up the WASD and cursor keys, like I had set it to previously - but NONE of the keys work. I can't switch profiles. I can't activate my hardware macros. I can't even change the LED lighting.
And now they want ME to pay to RMA it.
Other Thoughts: My rating of one is entirely due to your company requiring me to pay for return shipping. That is unacceptable.
Also it boots up slowly, so on some computers you can't access the bios. But this is barely a problem since most BIOS are really slow.

Pros: * Pleasant non-intrusive red backlight
* Keys feel smooth and very good
* Keys are not wobbly in the least and go straight down
* No problems entering very-fast loading BIOS or anything else
* Useful wrist-rest
* Really, it's a great keyboard!
Cons: * None I can think of! I don't care about using my keyboard for USB-pass-through, as I plug in any occasional peripherals into my case. Kind of awkward to plug and unplug stuff from a keyboard anyway.
Other Thoughts: Some general advice:
* use a different mini-USB cable--a softer one to avoid possibly loosening the mini-USB port
* When changing the Trigger Key to function as Windows Key, don't forget to set the profile afterwards--press Trigger Key + F1 to activate the first profile and remember it
* If you find mechanical keyboards loud, try using O-rings to dampen the bottoming out sound. Search a major retailer (starts with A) for 'Buna O-Rings 50A' and get a package of 125 rings. Install a ring under each keycap = sound dampening.
Pros: Great feel, quality build, nice wrist pad
Cons: caps lock does not have that small break away so it is really easy to hit the caps lock, must download CM Storm Macro editor for macros to work. Windows Key does NOT function unless you download the macro editor which is annoying because i have the worst operating system (windows 8) and anyone who has the greatest displeasure of using it knows you need to have that key working to access anything.
Other Thoughts: Wish it shipped with the power adapter so that it can actually light up. Save your money and wait for the Vengeance k90 or k95!
